Morehead City has an interesting waterfront. It is the larger of the two cities--Beaufort and Morehead City, and has more current harbor activity. Beaufort, however, is the historic city and has a revitalized tourist-focused waterfront with many fascinating shops and restaurants. We found a chart kit and waterway guide book at a nautical gift and book store in Beaufort that we'd not be able to find from Florida north.

In addition, the cemetery contained many 18th and 19th century graves, and was preserved in a beautiful setting behind the First United Methodist Church.
